Fred Gleaton and Melissa Reading obtained a defense verdict on September 2, following a two week trial in the State Court of Cobb County. The OG client, a local anesthesiologist sued along with a Paulding County surgeon, was exonerated after over two days of jury deliberation. Plaintiff was represented by former Governor Roy Barnes. The trial was complicated by the recusal of Judge Maria Golick in mid-trial, in favor of Judge Carl Bowers.
This was the 14th wrongful death case tried to verdict by Mr. Gleaton, 13 of which resulted in defense verdicts, This was the first tried by Ms. Reading and Mr. Gleaton in tandem. It will not be the last. The firm continues to build its expertise in cases alleging anesthesia malpractice.
